A committee of volunteers lead by Margaret Bloodworth is putting the final touches on St Martin’s fund raising campaign to support Cornerstone’s latest housing for women initiative.
Underway since last May, the campaign goal is to raise $6,500 to furnish one of the 42 rental units that will be at 373 Princeton Avenue in McKellar, site of the former Mother House of the Jeanne D’Arc Institute. The crowning touch for the Adopt-A-Room campaign will be a two hour Christmas Concert starting at 2 pm complete with light refreshments staged here at the St Martin’s on Sunday, December 10th by the Voices In Harmony Choir.
This 55 member Choir has been part of Ottawa’s vocal scene for the past forty years and is dedicated to assisting worthy causes. The Choir’s repertoire on this occasion will feature seasonal selections sprinkled with lesser know yuletide hymns and include a lively sing along of Christmas favourites.
It is the hope of campaign organizers that this will be the successful cap to campaign efforts which as of late October totaled some $4,500 and had spurred one donor to furnish the whole cost of one more unit.
Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets will be available at the door but with a sellout expected advance tickets purchase is recommended by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
