St. Martin’s Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

Most of you know that the plans for a group of parishioners to conduct a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land has been put on hold at this time due to unrest there.   However, this Pilgrimage is very much something that Father John and a number of parishioners want to do and it has been agreed that we delay the trip to the spring of 2017.

Much was learned about Pilgrimages and what would be doable for our Parishioners.  It is therefore proposed that we participate in a course at St. George’s College called ‘The Palestine of Jesus’ which is a pilgrimage course focusing upon the key events in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and the sacred landscapes in which they take place.  For more information on the College and its offerings, please use the link below.

If you are interested in being part of this Pilgrimage, please contact Father John or Marilyn Collins to indicate your interest in participating.

Should you not be able to participate in the Pilgrimage, you could attend some events that we will be hosting over the next two years.  For example, we will be showing a movie “The Other Son”, which is the story of two boys who are switched at birth and are therefore brought up in a family of a different religion.  A discussion will follow.  We also are fortunate to have an extensive book list from which I invite you to read widely, so that you can share your responses in a group discussion.  Please link to the St. Martin’s website to obtain this list or request a printed version from Elsia in the Church office.  Finally, Father John has agreed to give a slide show from his time in Palestine-Israel at the “Come Celebrate Easter” event during Lent 2016.
