There is something exquisite about hearing sacred music sung by a talented a capella choir in a church setting. Folks attending the concert by the Stairwell Carollers held Saturday evening, May 30th at St Martin’s got just such a musical uplift. In the context of Christian worship Jubilate Deo takes its cue from the sentiments found in Psalm 100 which is all about giving joyful, grateful praise. The 30 voice Stairwell Carollers did just that in a program of 26 pieces by composers ranging back to the 13 the century through to the present. Among the highlights was an original pieceLaudemus cum armonia created by Choir Founder and Director Pierre Massie. High fives to all who helped concert convenor Marilyn Collins pull off a very successful, well attended fundraiser for special initiatives here at St. Martin’s.
